arrow Is there a link between insulin and cancers?

In June of 2009, EASD published four papers in Diabetologia suggesting that there might be a possible link between a long-acting insulin analogue, glargine and cancers. This was also accompanied by an editorial and a press release which suggested that further studies needed to be conducted to address the concern.

arrow Metabolic Syndrome in Malaysia: Implications in Clinical Practice.

Metabolic syndrome comprises of a constellation of risk factors, including abdominal fat, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and elevated glucose. The main pathological abnormality in metabolic syndrome is believed to be insulin resistance. In 2007 the Ministry of Health, Malaysia through its E-Health initiative funded the Metabolic Syndrome Study of Malaysia (MSSM) which randomly screened (with OGTT) nearly 5,000 adults throughout the country.
