ANNOUNCEMENT!
The appointment of the President of MEMS, Prof. Dr. Nor Azmi Kamaruddin, as the President of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) for 2013-2015, and election to the Executive Committee of the International Society of Endocrinology (ISE) 2013-2015.
The Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) is pleased to announce the appointment of the President of MEMS, Prof. Dr. Nor Azmi Kamaruddin, as the President of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) for 2013-2015. The appointment was rectified in the last AFES Business Meeting which was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia on the 14th of November 2013.
At this Business Meeting, Prof. Dr. Nor Azmi has also been elected to the Executive Committee of the International Society of Endocrinology (ISE) for the period 2013-2015. Prof. Dr. Nor Azmi holds the distinct honour of being the first endocrinologist from South East Asia to be elected to the Executive Committee of ISE.

The ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) is made up of 7 National Endocrinology Societies from the ASEAN region comprising of: Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The International Society of Endocrinology (ISE) is a strategic network of National Endocrine Societies which aims to stimulate international cooperation and co-ordinate scientific exchange, debate and dissemination between healthcare professionals around the world. Current membership comprises over 70 national endocrinology societies, representing nearly 50,000 endocrinologists worldwide. The flagship of the ISE is its International Congress which is now held in rotation every two years in partnership with one of its National Societies across The Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
