Upping the tempo on the war against diabetes

Diabetes is probably public enemy number one for those who are involved in the public health sector. Professor Nor Azmi Kamaruddin, president of Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society, speaks to MIMS Doctor about the state of diabetes in the country and also on the new Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) – which was launched in December 2015.

When opinions collide on target sugar levels

During the recent Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society’s 7th Annual Congress, two teams of endocrinologists gave their take on the motion of ‘A1c target of 7% as expounded by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is more pragmatic than the target of
